In mid-December we visited Arches National Park, Canyonlands National Park, and nearby Dead Horse Point Utah State Park. The weather was crisp and cold, and it turned out to be a great time to visit, as the parks were not crowded.
Because we brought Maisey, and dogs are not allowed on trails, we didn't do any hiking. We did stop at every overlook in both Arches and Canyonlands, as well as the state park, and were able to do so in two days with no rushing. Pack a lunch you can eat in the car and remember to bring plenty of water. We stayed overnight in Moab, which fortunately has a couple dog friendly hotels. It was a nice weekend trip. We left Boise on a Friday, stayed in Salt Lake, then drove to Arches, stayed in Moab, and drove back to Boise on Monday.
